Rescue – Rosedale Abbey – 23rd May 14:00 (36/2021)
Called by Yorkshire Ambulance Service to reports of a walker with a lower leg injury in the area of Rosedale Abbey. Due to the fact that there was no mobile coverage at the scene of the incident the call to the ambulance service had been initiated from a local tea room. Information received by the call taker on the full details of the patient and the exact location of them was incomplete.
The team and a Yorkshire Ambulance Service crew deployed to the most likely scene but were unable to find the patient there and a search was initiated. Questions asked at the tea room established we were most likely at the correct location. We also tried to establish contact with the patient through both Phonefind and by leaving voicemail messages.
Phone contact was eventually established with the patient to find that they had managed to self rescue. The team stood down and the ambulance crew were able to move onto their next tasking. Twenty one team members were deployed for two and a quarter hours.
