Rescue – Shunner Howe – 29th April, 12:04 – 15/2023
Called by Yorkshire Ambulance Service NHS Trust to a mountain biker with a suspected spinal injury high on the North York Moors National Park. Sixteen team members attended and after initial assessment and treatment the gentleman was packaged onto a team stretcher before been carried to the roadside for evacuation to definitive medical care in a waiting ambulance.
I was the casually on this incident and i cannot praise the Scarborough & Rydaale MRT enough, for the excellent job that its members did.
Having been active in the outdoors for most of my adult life, this is the first time i have needed an MRT’s help. I could not have wished for a better service though.
I have indeed fractured 2 vertebrae, but there does not appear to be any nerve damage and this to a large part, is down to the skill and professionalism of those who attended.
A heart felt thank you to all involved.
Ian
