Four VERY varied incidents in the last week:
Rescue – Goathland (Injured walker) – 22nd July, 14:09 (35/2024)
Called by North Yorkshire Police to reports of a female with suspected broken ankle on the footpath between Beck Hole and Mallyan Spout.
The team deployed to Goathland and walked the path in from the Mallyan Spout. Once on scene and after an initial primary survey pain relief was administered and the injured limb was splinted before evacuation in a team vehicle to a waiting ambulance crew at the roadside.
Our thanks to Chris who provided access through his farm and across his land to close to the scene which made evacuation much easier for us and significantly more comfortable for the patient.
Eighteen team members deployed for two and three quarter hours (Images are from this incident).
Rescue – Bransdale (Car in water) – 19th July, 17:23 (34/2024)
Multi agency callout to reports of a car upside down in water in Bransdale with two persons trapped in the car.
The team were stood down while travelling as other emergency services first on scene had effected a rescue.
Eighteen team members, including water rescue trained team members, deployed for just over one hour.
Rescue – Hambleton, Selby (Light aircraft crash), – 17th July, 17:57 (33/2024)
Another multi agency call out to reports of a crashed light aircraft close to a runway near Selby, the team were stood down while mobilising once it became apparent that those in the aircraft were ‘walking wounded’ and could make their own way to waiting medical care.
Eighteen team members activated for thirty three minutes.
Search – Harwood Dale (Medical emergency) – 16th July, 17:04 (32/2024)
Called by North Yorkshire Police to reports of a single patient, ongoing Category 1 medical emergency in the vicinity of Harwood Dale Forest. As initial searches of the forest tracks commenced we were advised by the police that parallel investigation had established that it was actually a well intended false alarm and the team could stand down.
Sixteen team members deployed for one hour and thirty six minutes.
The incident at Mallyan Spout was for me. All the rescue team were brilliant and I can’t thank you enough. My ankle was broken in 3 places but I’m back home now recovering. Thank you so much for the marvellous work that you do
