Rescue – Stonygate Moor – 21st Oct; 11:46 – 54/2023
Called by Yorkshire Ambulance Service to a mountain biker who had sustaining a femoral injury in the forest above Allerston.
An aircraft from the Yorkshire Air Ambulance had landed approximately 1km from the scene and the medical crew were with the patient but had requested our assistance to move the patient to either the helicopter or a road ambulance for transport to definitive medical care.
Team members arriving at the rendezvous in Allerston were transported to scene in team 4×4 vehicles and once on scene we transferred the patient to a vacuum mattress and Bell stretcher before driving him and YAA medical crew to a waiting road ambulance in the village.
We then guided the remaining riders and the patient’s bike back their transport at Adderstone Field with one team vehicle and the helicopter crew back to their aircraft in another.
Fourteen team members deployed for two and three quarter hours.
