Rescue – Rudland Rigg – 26th June 14:11 (53/2021)
Called to a runner who had sustained a painful shoulder injury as a result of a fall on Rudland Rigg. He had attempted to self rescue back to a track but movement was too painful for him to continue. Yorkshire Ambulance Service had suffered initial problems in determining his location as the gentleman’s phone had ‘location services’ disabled however we established contact and after discussion with him established a rough location. The team were exercising elsewhere on the North York Moors and quickly rerouted to the Rigg. Once we found him we administered strong analgesia before moving him to one of our 4×4 ambulances for a slow drive down the Rigg to a waiting Ambulance Service Crew. Seventeen team members deployed for almost four hours.
